boxer

fx and other agents

Sandbox an agent boxer has no integration for by running the whole agent inside the sandbox.

If an agent has no hooks or plugins boxer can use, run the agent itself in the sandbox. Then there is nothing on your machine to intercept.

boxer shell fx

boxer shell <harness> starts the harness inside the worktree's sandbox, with the worktree mounted at its real path. It works for claude, codex, copilot, fx, gemini, grok, kimi, opencode and pi. See Inside mode for credentials and memory.

fx has no hooks, and its shell cannot be blocked headlessly, so inside mode is the only way to sandbox it. Tested in the matrix with inside mode.

An agent boxer does not know

Try these in order:

  1. The MCP tool. Register boxer mcp as an MCP server. The agent gets boxer_run. This asks the agent to use the sandbox but does not force it.
  2. PATH shims. boxer shim install writes files named npm, node and so on that run in the sandbox. Put the directory first on the agent's PATH. See PATH shims.
  3. Inside mode, if the agent can be installed in the sandbox image.

To add first-class support, see Adding a harness.
